Louisiana Coastal Homeless Coalition

The Louisiana Coastal Homeless Coalition is a private non-profit organization that coordinates and supports housing services and resources within the parishes of Terrebonne, Lafourche, Assumption, St. John the Baptist, St. James, and St. Charles.   The Louisiana Coastal Homless Coalition supports the Balance of State Continuum of Care.   The former Houma-Terrebonne CoC has been merged into the Balance of State CoC and shall abide by their policies, requirements, and scheduled meetings.  For more information please visit the Balance of State CoC webpage at:  https://laboscoc.org/

The Coordinated Entry system is currently being updated.  Specific funding from HUD / Balance of State has allowed Start Corporation to dedicated additonal staff and resources to the Coordinated Entry system which will allow for more intensive outreach, assessment, and referral to applicable housing resources.

 

The Lousiana Coastal Homeless Coaltion meets quarterly to provide a forum for community stakeholders, agencies, and individuals to discuss their concerns and observations about homelessness and housing within their areas, to collaboratively discuss barriers and solutions, and to form partnerships and plans to eventually end homelessness.   The LCHC meeting serves as the local meeting requirement of the Louisiana Balance of State.   The meeting schedule is listed below.

 

Services

Agencies and individuals within the Balance of State CoC provide a wide range of resources and services to end homelessness.   The first step usually involves a homelessness assessment throught the CoC's Centralized Assessment.   See Services for more information.

HMIS

The Housing Management Information System (HMIS) is required for HUD and other federally funded housing programs.   Service Point by Bowman Systems is the HMIS used by CoC's within Louisiana.  Go to HMIS for more information.

 

 

CoC Meetings

The Balance of State CoC Meetings occur quarterly and announcements are sent by email to everyone on the Balance of State email contact list.  These meetings are considered mandatory for HUD/ESG funding recipients.
